RBwAPR-2nD multiple wireless settings (CAP)

Mon Apr 29, 2024 10:57 am

Hi All,

I need some help with my RBwAPR-2nD (wAP R) wifi settings.
After I have successfully updated to the latest version, there are multiple wireless settings in the interface section.
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi> /system/routerboard/print
       routerboard: yes
        board-name: wAP R
             model: RBwAPR-2nD
     serial-number: ***
     firmware-type: qca9531L
  factory-firmware: 3.41
  current-firmware: 7.14.3
  upgrade-firmware: 7.14.3

[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi> /system/package/print
Columns: NAME, VERSION, BUILD-TIME, SIZE
# NAME VERSION BUILD-TIME SIZE
0 routeros 7.14.3 2024-04-17 12:47:58 9.9MiB
1 wireless 7.14.3 2024-04-17 12:47:58 1688.1KiB
Without the package "wireless" tehre is no wifi interface. But after the update I see two configuration options:

One of them is empty:
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi> print

The other one show this:
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wireless> p
Flags: X - disabled; R - running
 0 X ;;; managed by CAPsMAN
      name="wlan1" mtu=1500 l2mtu=1600 mac-address=CC:2D:E0:36:9F:17 arp=enabled interface-type=Atheros AR9300 mode=station ssid="MikroTik" frequency=2412 band=2ghz-b/g channel-width=20mhz secondary-frequency="" scan-list=default
      wireless-protocol=any vlan-mode=no-tag vlan-id=1 wds-mode=disabled wds-default-bridge=none wds-ignore-ssid=no bridge-mode=enabled default-authentication=yes default-forwarding=yes default-ap-tx-limit=0
      default-client-tx-limit=0 hide-ssid=no security-profile=default compression=no
I want to use this WAP R with my another router "hAP ac^3 (RBD53iG-5HacD2HnD)" as Capsman.
[admin@MikroTikAc3] /interface/wifi/capsman> print
                   enabled: yes
                interfaces: LAN
            ca-certificate: auto
               certificate: auto
  require-peer-certificate: no
              package-path:
            upgrade-policy: none
  generated-ca-certificate: WiFi-CAPsMAN-CA-DC2C6E2E76FF
     generated-certificate: WiFi-CAPsMAN-DC2C6E2E76FF
But, the wap r could not connect to capsman:
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wireless/cap> print
                            enabled: yes
                         interfaces: wlan1
                        certificate: request
                   lock-to-caps-man: no
               discovery-interfaces: bridgeLocal
                 caps-man-addresses: 172.16.0.1
                     caps-man-names:
  caps-man-certificate-common-names:
                             bridge: bridgeLocal
                     static-virtual: no
Bit if I set cap in the other menu I got the certificate:
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi/cap> set caps-man-addresses=172.16.0.1 certificate=request enabled=yes discovery-interfaces=bridgeLocal
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi/cap> print
               enabled: yes
  discovery-interfaces: bridgeLocal
           certificate: request
    caps-man-addresses: 172.16.0.1
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi/cap> print
                enabled: yes
   discovery-interfaces: bridgeLocal
            certificate: request
     caps-man-addresses: 172.16.0.1
  requested-certificate: CAP-CC2DE0369F16
But in this menu "/interface/wifi" there is no network interface, as I wrote above:
[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi> print

[admin@MikroTik] /interface/wifi>
I can see the connected cap in capsman, but there is no radio:
[admin@MikroTikAc3] /interface/wifi/capsman/remote-cap> print
Columns: IDENTITY, STATE, BOARD-NAME, VERSION
# IDENTITY STATE BOARD-NAME VERSION
0 MikroTik Ok RBwAPR-2nD 7.14.3

[admin@MikroTikAc3] /interface/wifi/radio> print
Flags: L - LOCAL
Columns: RADIO-MAC, INTERFACE
# RADIO-MAC INTERFACE
0 L DC:2C:6E:2E:77:04 wifi1
1 L DC:2C:6E:2E:77:05 wifi2
I really don't understand why I have two wifi settings: "/interface/wifi" and "/interface/wireless/" and how to deal with them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
jvincze84
