cAP XL ac - Unresponsive and Configuration Issue

Tue Nov 26, 2024 3:24 pm

I am experiencing a persistent issue with my CAPXL device. The device powers on and follows a specific light sequence during startup:
1. The blue light turns on first.
2. Then, the light with the icon of a person (omino) lights up.
3. Subsequently, E1 and E2 LEDs turn on in sequence.

Despite this, I am unable to access the device using Winbox. I have tried the following troubleshooting steps without success:
• Resetting the device to factory settings.
• Connecting directly to the device via Ethernet.
• Manually setting the default IP address on my computer.

The device remains inaccessible and unconfigurable.

I would like to understand if this is a hardware issue or if it could be related to the software/firmware. Has anyone encountered a similar problem, or can you suggest further troubleshooting steps?

Thank you in advance!

Re: cAP XL ac - Unresponsive and Configuration Issue  [SOLVED]

If the deivce isn't shown in Neighbors using Winbox (either connected to one of the ethernet ports or via wifi if available) I would do a netinstall:
https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/spaces/R ... Netinstall

Make sure to follow it by the letter.

Btw: You can either connect using IP or MAC address in Winbox. No reason to specify IP address.

Thank you for your guidance. I was able to reconnect to my cAP XL ac, but I had to use a native Windows PC instead of my Mac. This leads me to another question: Is it possible to properly run Netinstall on a Mac (mid '19)? I tried using a Windows partition running Windows 10, but I couldn't get the device to show up in the menu, even after correctly setting the IP address as demonstrated in the video. Could this issue be related to the type-C to Ethernet adapter I’m using?
