Disable WPA3 on SSID only

Sat Mar 08, 2025 8:51 pm

A friend bought a modern (2024) and expensive Samsung TV (TQ55S95D) which we discovered didn't support WPA3. Help him to disable WPA3 on his hAP ax³ but we struggled a bit.
He had multiple SSIDs enabled which I think is the default configuration, e.g suffixed with "guest". The TV wasn't able to connect until all SSIDs had WPA3 disabled, not only the main SSID which we used when trying to connect.

Is it not possible to disable WPA3 on only one SSID?

It should be, best to share your config to give some in depth advice:
/export file=anynameyoulike
Remove serial and any other private info, post between code tags by using the </> button

I am a newbie also but what I would do is the next steps.

The thing in AX3 is that there are two wifi interfaces which acts like "master" interfaces. These I think are hardware interfaces. Everything else that is created over the wifi1 and wifi2 ( they are named like that in default configuration ) will be "slaves" of these two interfaces. Some Smart Tvs and Google Tvs are very sensitive to these WPA2 and WPA3 settings. Did you try to create new security profiles under the "Wi-Fi" menu from the lest ? And assign it to the specific SSID ?

Security setting is not tied to master interface.
Can be different on each slave interface.

I have IOT ssids not using wpa3 whereas the master ssid does.

Thanks for your reply.

I helped him through screen sharing so don't have access to the configuration right now. Will try to get my hands on it since I'm curious what might gone wrong.
