Chateau LTE6 ax - USB2 or USB3?

Wed Apr 16, 2025 3:45 pm

Can someone clarify if the Chateau LTE6 ax has USB2 port or a USB3, as in AX3 ? It's running the same IPQ-6018 chip, but the spec sheet lists it as USB2, and it's not blue.

I'm interested in an LTE AX router to use as travel device with ability to attach SSD on the USB for small file server. The AX3 that I have does great job serving files over Samba, but is missing LTE option. It would be strange to me if the Chateau LTE6 ax is not on par, given that the Chateau series are higher end routers than the AC*/AX* series.

any chance that the port is actually USB3 and the Specs sheets are wrong?

Or if there's an internal m2 slot in Chateau LTE6 ax capable of hosting a 2280 SSD?

2.0.

The IPQ6010 only has a single USB3.0 "Port" (and 1 USB2.0), and that is in use by the LTE Modem on the Chateau.

It's actually a controller, but the MTs don't have a Built-In USB Hub.

Also no internal M.2 Slot.
If you want to get messy, you can attach an external USB Modem to the AX3 with a USB Hub.

Understood, thanks!

yeah, I thought of using a hub for an SSD + 4G/LTE modem on the hub on an AX3, but was looking for an integrated solution.

An LTE6 modem would be fine even on a USB2 port, but as the platform is the same for all the LTE* & 5G variants, USB3 speeds makse sense for the higher end LTE12/18/5G.

Thanks!
