Package repository?

Fri Jul 24, 2009 12:38 pm

Hi.

I noticed there's a feature to pull software upgrades off a remote host in RouterOS. I can't really find any documentation on how this works. What is required of the remote host and how do you set it up?

Yeah, I've already read that part. Here's what I'm confused about:

The remote router you specify in upgrade-package-source, is that just any other router with the desired software running?
OR
Can you set up one box that has all the software for all the different architectures in your net? For instance, an RB600 with a CF card holding the software for mipsle, mipsbe, ppc and x86?

You can set one router that holds all packages

that's why you can do it also with Dude, not "get packages" but "put packages" - other approach. dude can select a group of routers, and upgrade them all.

force upgrade must be used if Dude doesn't recognize your packages as correct ones for this board type. this happened after we changed package format

What protocol does it use to fetch the packages? A proprietary one? What ports should I allow in the firewall?
