Profile "Flash" what is it?

Wed May 11, 2011 5:38 am

I thought I saw a list of what everything listed in the profile tool was but I cant seem to find it now.

Does anyone know what "flash" is and why it uses so much processor on the older router boards?

NAND flash for routerboards. Something is writing something to disk.

Normis,

Is there anyway to reduce its processor usage on the older 133/112 boards ?

what kind of configuration do you have there? firewall, NAT, queues, proxy, anything else?

Nothing special, one of them has two dst nat rules and one src nat rule and a simple que. The other problem I am having is that sometimes when I try to winbox into the older boards running 5.2 I get a "connection refused". I can still telnet into them but not winbox. I am trying to create a Spout file from one of them now that I can't winbox into. If it completes I will send it in to support.

Thanks,
Chadd

if you use v5.2, webfig is much less resource intensive than winbox, you should try using that instead. you can do 98% of the things y you can do in winbox and v5.3 will even bring more features.

you should uninstall all packages you don't use, check "system packages" menu to see if there is anything you don't need

I have them stripped down to bare min on packages. I will try webfig to see if I can get in it that way.

It doesn't appear that the spout file is going to finish.
