Wire 60 - through the trees

Sat Jul 28, 2018 12:54 am

Hi,

i need to connect two remote places which are approx 70-80 M away from each other. If the LOS would exist.. this would be no issue to connect those to point by two 5 Ghz antennas via PTP. BUT... there are trees in between them.... i put the 'station' antenna like 6 7 m above the spot... but still i have like -73 ...-75 dB signal. Not good.

My question is.. would Wire 60 do some better than SXT 5 lite ac?

tx

Depends on how much your LOS is masket by the trees

60Ghz will not go trough trees, but if there are Ways to see the other Antennna, 60 GHz will need much smaller Fressnel Zone!

If 5Ghz is not going through then 60Ghz wont either.

Rule of thumb: the lower the frequency, the better it handles obstacles.

900MHz is good for non-LOS
2GHz is also fine
5GHz not so good
60GHz impossible

^^^ This exactly.

If you struggle with 5Ghz then you shouldn't be thinking of going higher. Through trees 2.4Ghz would probably pull in what you want with a decent gain antenna at either end.
