Equipment for the conference room

Fri Jul 05, 2019 3:19 am

Hello,

I have to buy new equipment for conference room. There is one large hall and two small adjoining rooms. The Internet is from the mobile network 4g. We need to provide WiFi for up to 100 users. In addition, we must connect 2 devices to the network using a wire. These devices connected with a wire should have priority in accessing the Internet. I have no experience with business-class equipment, so i hope you could help me. I think about such a set:

- Wireless access point - cAP ac (RBcAPGi-5acD2nD)
https://mikrotik.com/product/cap_ac

- Modem - SXT LTE kit (RBSXTR&R11e-LTE)
https://mikrotik.com/product/sxt_lte_kit

- Router - hEX PoE (RB960PGS)
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB960PGS

or

- Router - RB4011 series (RB4011iGS+RM)
https://mikrotik.com/product/rb4011igs_rm

and

- Switch - RB260GSP (CSS106-1G-4P-1S)
https://mikrotik.com/product/RB260GSP
to power modem and access point with POE

I'm going to use PoE from router or switch to access point and modem.

What do you think about such a set. Is that enough or do I need something more?
I can't find out how many devices can be connected to cAP ac at the same time. How can I check it?

I will be grateful for your help.

Could anyone help me in the matter described above? I am asking for your opinions and suggestions.
The most important for me is that I can't find out how many devices can be connected to cAP ac at the same time. I am looking for information on this subject, but I can not find anything. How can I check it?

You don't need any switch if you use a router with enough ethernets. Hard to say what large means but smartly placed 4 cAPs could be perfect solution. Manage the prioritisation by queues in the router.

He's using PoE switch to provide power to APs, in place of 4 PoE injectors.

Just more expensive and less energy efficient option.

1 Cradlepoint CBA850LP6-NA Cellular Modem.
1 Mikrotik hAP AC2 Router.
2 Power Dsine 3501-GAC POE injectors.
2 Ruckus R510 Wireless Access points.

The Cellular connection to the outside world will be the choke point.
But the Ruckus Wireless Antennas are much better suited for having that many clients active at once. NO WAY AT ALL, I WOULD EVEN CONSIDER CONNECTING THEM ALL TO ONE MIKROTIK RADIO.
The hAP AC2 has plenty more routing power than you would need.

If you decide to use MikroTik:

- For now, the RB4011 has bugs, i.e. 5GHz doesn't work properly.

- 1x cAP ac for a Maximum of 25 clients using 1x 5 GHz band
- You can daisy chain cAP ac, i.e. 1x PoE+ Port with 2x cAP ac
