RB4011iGS+5HacQ2HnD wifi throughput problem

Fri Jun 19, 2020 7:23 pm

I have UPC 500 Mbit download, 30 Mbit upload.
On UPC ConnectBox 5GHz I have about 450-500 Mbit / s download speed. After connecting RB4011iGS + 5HacQ2HnD and setting the UPC modem in modem mode I have about 300 Mbit / s download speed. My configuration looks like this.
Can I improve something to get these 450-500 Mbit / s.
As far as I know, RB4011iGS + 5HacQ2HnD has MU-MIMO 4x4 so I should be able to achieve such speed without any problems. I check the speed 5 meters from the router.

Please help.

The AP gets flagged as "Running" only if 1 or more clients are connected to it.
So it seems, whatever you are testing this speed with, is for some reason connecting to 2.4GHz band and thus you are getting that 300mb/s.

If your testing device supports 5GHz, try disabling 2.4GHz on your AP and you should get much bigger data rates.
If it doesn't support 5GHz, that 300mb/s is the max you will get out of it with that testing device.

What client are you testing against RB4011 and what is its Wifi specifics (11ac, 1x1/2x2 or 3x3)?
3x3 will get you 500mbps close by, but 2 spatial stream device will get you max 350Mbps.

You can add the APDMU aggregation levels 2-8 as well.

I would not use 160Mhz (only 20/40/80) as the DFS scan for 160 takes ages (~10 minutes) and as its 160 channel
it has a bigger chance to hit a DFS radar once in a while... (and then your 5G is gone for 10 minutes again).

Also make sure you actually are using the 5G band. As both SSID are the same there is a big chance
your device will connect to the 2.4Ghz band, which is 2x2 11n only...

For speed tests use different SSID to ensure your device is not changing freq. bands while doing tests...

This may not be a wireless problem. Connect to MikroTik router with ethernet cable and test. If your test result doesn't reach exactly what you want again, add the Router Fast Track rule. then test again.
