How to create an account for the wiki pages?

Sun May 24, 2020 12:54 pm

On this page https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Special:PasswordReset one can just enter a dummy Username, for example "test123" and then it says
There is no user by the name "test123". Usernames are case sensitive. Check your spelling, or create a new account --> https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Special:CreateAccount
But clicking on the link for creating new account says:
Permission error
You do not have permission to do that, for the following reason:
You are not allowed to execute the action you have requested.
So, how does one create an account for the wiki pages?
Or is this not intended for public users, but rather intended for MikroTik employees only?

How do we then flag articles on the wiki that need to be updated then?

There is no possibility to register or flag anything. If there is a problem, email support

Besides, it looks like MikroTik is phasing out the wiki and is now moving the docs to https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/
(looking at the website of that product I don't think it is the right choice, but we will have to see how it looks after it has been loaded with all docs)

It will take some time to get used to it.
While browsing the site I never found any functionality w.r.t. a versioning system, support for different versions of the documentation in parallel.
IMHO that is a serious lack of functionality for such a system. A reasonable requirement is that you select some version number of RouterOS and then you find
documentation relevant to THAT version, at least for the versions released during and past the migration to this new help system.
At least for the longterm/stable/testing/development channels but probably just for any released version.
Whenever some feature is added in some version, the employee responsible for that edits the relevant section and marks it as valid for that version,
and the user can lookup the documentation for the version he is using. But apparently this system does not support that.
Having just one plain manual for all versions is inconvenient when you are looking for something in a longterm release (you have to look for all those
"available since version xxxx" remarks) and also it leads to postponing documentation updates until a release becomes stable, and a risk that this is forgotten.
