SwOS feature request - Btest server

Tue Jun 29, 2021 11:22 pm

Would it be possible for SwOS (Lite) to include a Btest server?
I don't know how complex is the Btest protocol, even just UDP only with no authentication (respond over the management VLAN only, and have an option to disable the service) will do.
It may be useful in cases like a switch behind a radio, as it is recommended to run Btest through (not to) the radio.

A switch work only on layer2, btest work on layer 3, management interface on IP do not count

Yes, I mean a Btest server on the management IP. Just like the web server in SwOS which is also layer 3. Or any of the better CRS series switches that run full RouterOS.
UDP only because the "management" CPU may be too slow for good TCP speeds.
My network often has a 60 GHz radio (station bridge) - netpower 7R switch - several customers (PPPoE clients in various cheap WiFi routers).
So no other device behind the radio to run Btest to. I wish netpower 7R was capable of running full RouterOS instead of SwOS.
There is the CRS318-1Fi-15Fr-2S that runs RouterOS but has only 100Mb ports to customers, and I have to compete with Orange FTTH where the lowest available speed is 300 Mbps.

OhmyGod ...
I never noticed it because until now I have not tried any "netPower Lite 7R"...
But I didn't expect the only way to use it was SwOS...

What a delusion ....................
