Combo Mode Configuration

Sun Sep 26, 2021 5:12 pm

I have a specific need, currently my scenario is with cisco sg300 switch
Up-link connected to interface gi27 with fiber + wireless combo port which works flawlessly

what i want to to do it with mikrotik
i want to buy a mikrotik crs series switch with poe support, so that i don't have to maintain two different switches. what i could not found in mikrotik products is a poe switch with fiber and ethernet combo port

nothing fancy configuration configuration will be done in switch
just a 6 vlans will be tagged to uplink and some of the downlink ports

i have multiple wireless access points, so i cannot afford two different switches.

if there is any way to configure them later. any help would be very grateful.

Why not just connect a ethernet port and a fiber port and let stp do the work.

cant do that because connecting links from two different locations
fiber from one switch and wireless from another location

I think there is some confusion on your requirements. Let me restate and see if I have it right.
1) You have multiple locations, but want to use the same switch type at each location. Makes life easier.
2) Each location needs POE out do drive some number of other devices
3) One or more locations will need a fiber interface for the "uplink", and one or more locations will need an Ethernet interface for the "uplink".
Do I have that right?

If I have the correct, how many POE ports do you need for your "standard"?

1) you are kinda right sir.
2) Needs upto like 8 wireless access points which require 24v-0.5A
3)All of my locations have fiber uplink with wireless as a backup. I have a cisco at those locations with fiber as uplink and wireless combo interface without poe. and have 260GSP as poe switches. i want to replace both with a common switch having similar functionality with mikrotik. as a previous suggestion i cannot do stp due to some my reasons.
now my question is there any other solution to this other than stp to achieve combo link.
