Mikrotik DHCP Server is not detecting hostname from a client device connected to an AP

Fri Oct 08, 2021 2:38 pm

I have a weird issue wherein in Mikrotik DHCP it says client is not giving out its hostname, but when checking my access point client list, it is able to detect the hostname?

My AP is: Ruijie EW1200G-PRO
Client Device: Xiaomi Yeelight LED Light Bulb (Color)

AP isn't running any DHCP, it's acting as a pure AP, it's weird that it can detect but not the DHCP server from Mikrotik? Is it possible that the AP and the Device are using some protocol to communicate its hostname, that DHCP in ROS hasn't implemented yet?
I think there really is an issue with Mikrotik DHCP, because I remember when PiHole was my DHCP server, it was able to detect.

Firmware: 6.47.10
Packet sniffer dump: http://www.filedropper.com/dhcpdumpmikrotikxiaomibulb

Snapshot of DHCP request from packet sniffer, the device is definitely broadcasting its hostname in the request
