HGSMII for 2.5 Gbps link

Sat Oct 09, 2021 5:48 pm

Hi

i've a brand new RB5009UG+S+IN with RouterOS 7.0.5

i've an ONU for SFP cage, Nokia G-10S-A. I've enabled 2.5Gbps link in the ONU. It s working perfectly under debian or FreeBSD with proper driver patch at 2.5Gbps

The ONU is recognized properly out of the box at 1Gbps with RB5009. When i set it at 2.5Gbps, the interface show "incomplete" configuration, and still runs at 1Gbps.

So the HGSMII mode is not working properly

Could you please enable it on RouterOS ? Now its normally included in linux kernel.

Thanks

What do you mean with "its normally included in linux kernel"?
Where in the kernel exactly is it "normally included"? Support for 2500Base-X in Linux is mostly ethernet driver specific at this point.

Yes you're right that's mainly in driver module

here are patchs to enable this : https://www.dslreports.com/forum/r32230 ... 57810S-NIC

2 years ago, Mikrotik support told me that no hardware, at this moment, was able to handle HSGMII synchronisation. I asked it for the very same reason, for a CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS.

HSGMII 2500BaseX sync out f the box would be great, really.

Hardware is definitely capable of this. People have loaded openwrt on your hardware, and it supports 2500BaseX. Can you enable this in Router OS?

I've the same problem.
I was super happy about my ISP upgrade from 1Gbps to 2.5Gbps, but in the end I can't use it at all.
I'm running the RB5009 and I was super happy since I can get 2.5Gb from a single device, the main reason why I bought this router actually, but it ended up that I can't get out all the available bandwidth, same as the standard provider ISP modem/router, so what was the real value of spending lot of money on a premium device?

So please enable the 2.5Gb HGSMII profiles for the SFP cage
