RB4011 rx-drop

Fri Jun 19, 2020 3:28 pm

Hello.
We have some RB4011iGS+ with sfp-sfplus port and notice many strange rx-drops on some ports almost on every device.
RouterOS v 6.43.16 and 6.45.9. Fast Path is enabled. Is anybody catch the same? Will be grateful for any help.

We have the same problem. Not only that the rx-drop counters are rising but we can see the impact on the forwarded traffic.
So far we haven't found any solution other than replacing the affected router with another type (e.g. CCR1009).

What kind of impact you can see? Increase delay? Reduction in bandwidth? We continue use rb4011 and see drop from time to time.

I have some MikroTik devices and three of them are RB4011iGS. I have rx-drops on all three of them. And I have no rx-drops on all other MikroTik devices.

I have a 4011 where I see only 44 rx-drops on one single interface (all of them are in use) after 391262351 packets.
I do not consider that too bad, but of course it preferable should be zero.

Those drops are seen on the SFP and stats show more drops than the interface list:

The high number is the stats. I have now reset the counter in stats to see if it increases and if it is accumulating after a reboot.

I have seen a similar situation in the RB1100AHx4 (which has similar components) and it was associated with SNMP queries about temperature values.

It could be that my 44 drops were caused by opening the Health window at some time... maybe the function to retrieve temperature disables interrupts for too long (e.g. to do a bitbang i2c or spi transfer)...
