RouterOS ist quite good for VPN, DynDNS, DHCP, Routing, Firewall and Co
You have a lot of Hardware to chouse from, depending on your needs (interfaces, Performances, etc..)

If you are not sure if Mikrotik /RouterOS is the right solution for you,
you can try it out on a Virtual-Maschine for Free (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/pages/vi ... eelicenses)

I currently have an OPNsense (on an R210II) for routing, DynDNS, Postfix, DHCP, Routing, Firewall and so on, and i want to Replace it with a Mikrotik Routerboard.
Who of you have one, and is it good? Can you recommend it? I'm also thinking to get one, i'm just unsure if Rack or Desktop with Wifi. I have a lack rack but maybe Desktop could be better.
What is your motivation for having to replace it ?
From what I see, the GUI on OPNSense in the firewall-section will be more advanced/structured then how Mikrotik is organised.
Also thing like embedded GEO-IP stuff, firewall alias
No IPS, no SSL fingerprinting
No clear roadmap ;-) like https://opnsense.org/about/road-map/

Sure RouterOS is extremly scriptable etc, but...

Is it good

Yes, it's very good…

Postfix

…but not for that.

You could port-forward your mail gateway through the MT router, but the only way I know to make the MT router itself act as a mail server is to use the nascent container support.

I have a lack rack but maybe Desktop could be better.

Start with port counts and types, not with mounting options. If you need 24 PoE, your decision will be made on that point alone, for instance.
