NAT64 could affect P2P services?

Thu Jan 27, 2022 5:56 pm

Hello!

we are doing the network setup for an ISP but we have a situation regarding the IPv4 address spacing. Right now the ISP has two /32 IPv6 blocks assigned by the regional authority but only has a /29 IPv4 space assigned by the ISP Carrier they hired for their network traffic transport.

We were thinking about using a NAT64 configuration mostly because IPv4 blocks are really expensive right now and all their network is IPv6 fully compatible but we are kind of worried about what could happen with P2P applications and services while using NAT64? for example I now services like Playstation Network will suffer from CGNAT or NAT44 implementations but I'm not sure about NAT64

Also... right now the IPv4 /29 block has the WHOIS information of the ISP carrier so when someone is connected using the IPv4 spacing and they do a speedtest the ISP reported there is the ISP Carrier, can this be fixed by the NAT64 when using their IPv6 blocks?

Thanks in advance!
