Slow IPv4 upload speeds on RB5009 7.1.1 with Fast Path enabled

Fri Jan 28, 2022 6:11 am

ROS 7.1.1 on a RB5009

I just upgraded to 2.5G symmetric fiber and have a very odd problem where certain hosts are seeing slower upload speeds.

My topology is AT&T U-Verse BGW320-505 modem <---2.5G---> RB5009 <---10G DAC---> CRS328. From there I have various hosts on 1G and 10G (via DAC cables). These are all examples of speeds I get with Fast Path turned on:
  • macOS getting ~1Gbps down and ~1Gbps up on gigabit
  • Synology NAS getting ~2.2Gbps down and ~700Mbps up on 10G
  • Synology NAS getting ~1Gbps down and ~700Mbps up on 1G
If I disable Fast Path, these are my speeds:
  • macOS getting ~1Gbps down and ~1Gbps up on gigabit - SAME
  • Synology NAS getting ~2.2Gbps down and ~2.2Gbps up on 10G <-- upload bandwidth fixed
  • Synology NAS getting ~1Gbps down and ~1Gbps up on 1G <-- upload bandwidth fixed
Everything is pretty standard on the network otherwise, 1500 MTU and nothing else in between.

Any ideas on why Fast Path would slow things down?

I think this is related to viewtopic.php?p=908812#p908812

Some info in my post here viewtopic.php?p=909084#p909084. Basically it behaves differently if it is a 10G or 1G host on my network, so odd.
