MKT router with FXS

Thu Sep 26, 2019 9:45 am

I think that the whole Mikrotik WISP community is waiting for a rotuer to be used as CPE at Customer's site, with following features:
- good WiFi performance and coverage;
- 2 FXS ports;
- 1 PoE out (at least), to power up the radio;
- affordable price

Is such HW in roadmap? I'd like to use MKT instead of TPLink, AVM, and Others, but FXS ports are missing, and it's too much complicated to install ATA at Customer's.

+1

Would be good, no need for a VOIP phone then.

Also a HAP ac lite or hap ac2 with a SFP port - however not as pricey as a Hap AC. nudge nudge...

Personally I'm very against CPE's with built in customer side wireless. CPE's is in many cases only a managed VLAN-aware L2 switch, and for good reasons.

But if Mikrotik decides to make some more CPE-ish models, then FXS and PoE would be useful.

Any news about the "desired features"? Anything in roadmap? Such a CPE would be very useful, and will be widely used.
Dear MKT staff, please take note and try to start the developement …

FXS would be a requirement for SFP modems to make sense for most people.

How would the ISP provide the phone lines if it is the end user integrating the router?

It should indeed support at least 2 phone lines.

Already possible to ignore an ISP-provided FTTH router.

So FXS would provide a complete solution if the phone lines can be configured.

A problem would be when the ISP releases SIP credentials but one cannot request that they only be accepted when the source is the subscriber's gateway.

Even worse is when in addition, the ISP box does not provide a bridge mode for the network.

Enough to reject the ISP.

I'm still dreaming!
A 'tik with FXS would solve my ISPs CPE woes. There's just nothing on the market!!
CPE products from the usual bunch (tplink, dlink, etc) which have an FXS port rarely support any other features like wan routing with voice vlan bridging, etc.
