PWR-LINE Pro + 2xPWR-LINE connected

Fri Feb 11, 2022 11:01 pm

Hi!
I don´t find much useful info regarding the PWR-Line(Pro) Hardware. Maybe someone has some experience with those, here my questions:
1. I have used 2 PWR-LINE adapters for maybe a week, then one of them started to reboot continously (everything blinks, darkness, blinking, .....) How reliable are those? Can I leave them connected unattended for months without risking a fire?

2. I want to connect a HAP AC2 with 2x mAP Lite for a few months, unfortunately laying Cat5e cables is a no go, so I thought to connect them like this:
┌──────┐ ┌──----─┐
│PWRLine ├─MAPLite│
└───┬──┘ └────--┘

┌──┴───┐ ┌─────┐
│PWRPro├───┤HAPac2│
└──┬───┘ └─────┘

┌──┴───┐ ┌─────┐
│PWRLine ├─┤MAPLite│
└──────┘ └─────┘
Can I connect 2 PWRLine to a single PWRLinePro ?

3. Will I have just a maximum 100mbps connection from both PWRLines to the PWRLinePro in sum (considering no connection problems)?

I know a single PWRLine can have 100mbps max, but a PWRLinePro can do 1G. I suppose that a PWRLinePro will just fall back to the older 100mbit/s mode?
The reason, why I want a PWRLinePro with my PWRLines is that I can use PoE for powering the HAPac2 from the Pro. While using the MicroUSB Power input on the MapLite for the PWRLine.

Thanks!

What pwr-line firmware version are you using on each pwr-line?

Hi,
it's: 1.3.1(2141-20160428-CS) on the PWR-LINEs.
I was thinking on upgrading its firmware, as I have seen the upgrade process is documented in the wiki, but I have never found a newer firmware to download.

I have no idea how to check the firmware version of PWR-Line PRO however. I can only connect to the Rj45 Port on it, it does not appear as an interface, and it does not have an IP to connect to.

All in all they have the factory firmware.

Hello Hecate!

Most helpful! I´ve downloaded the new firmware, I will try that soon with my devices.
Have you been using your PWRLINEs for a long period reliably? Didn´t they fail or got very hot?

Maybe there is someone who could also answer my questions regarding PowerlinePro + PWR-Line ?

Thanks!

I find my PWR-LINE perfectly stable with my hAP Lites, latest firmware has improved stability from what I've read.

Hi,
just to recap:
Complete command I have used:
/interface pwr-line upgrade-firmware pwr-line1 firmware-file=FW-QCA7420-1.5.0.0026-02-CS-20200114.nvm
The firmware file I have used can be found here:
https://mega.nz/file/ocNDhYzK#xuSQXd-b6 ... MjZX5WEWHc
FW-QCA7420-1.5.0.0026-02-CS-20200114.nvm
Checksum SHA-1: 7e182d277c20f00d9450326899c3033bb4c4980b

And yes, it seems it has improved stability.
