Any word on Mikrotik SFP28/QSFP28 switches?

Sun Mar 27, 2022 2:38 am

I'm curious if there is any information out there that I may have missed.

My network is currently largely 10gig SFP+ based but I am considering moving to 25/100gig. I feel like in 2022 I don't want to invest in a dying standard in 40gig SFP+

The CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM would be absolutely perfect for my needs as a main switch in my rack, if instead of QSFP+ ports, it had QSFP28 ports and instead of SFP+ ports it had SFP28 ports. (actually, 48 copper ports is way more than I need, 16 or 24 would have been fine, but I'll take what I can get)

Has there been any news about Mikrotik moving towards 25G/100G in their switch products, because right now this is conspicuously absent from the product page.

Appreciate any info.

looking at new ccr 2216 which integrates a 25g/100g switch, apperar we are not to far from seen 25g/100g switches from MikroTik

Maybe the easy way will be a equivalent 2216 without the powerfull SOC to offer 16x25g + 2x100g, Or maybe 24x25g

will be interesting to se how mikrotik build their switching portfolio

Not only from technical perspective but commercial and stategic perspective to avoid products competing between them

I'm in the same boat. I'd like to go full 25/100gig on everything, as I don't have any devices that are 10G limited (all have SFP28 or better now). Even my CCR2004... but there aren't Mikrotik switches that fit many needs with SFP28/QSFP28 ports. I wonder if the pandemic slowed down product releases, as I can't imagine they intended to launch the CCR2004 and then nothing to attach to it for so long. I could definitely use a SFP28/QSFP28 based switch for everything fiber, and a wide variety of SFP28/QSFP28 uplink switches with GigE or 10GE ports. Even my home CRS328 could use an upgrade, as it seems to be flaking out, and it's a shame to buy another one.
