serial number meaning

Wed Apr 27, 2022 3:20 pm

Hello,

I've noticed that the serial number retrived from the OS and also scanning the data matrix doesn't contain the last 7 digits present on the label, e.g. SN: 123456789ABC/123/rN
the part after and comprising the / doesn't appear. Also this part is sometimes different between label on router and label on cardboard box. Why?
What does this part mean? Does it contain some usefun information?

Thanks

123456789ABC = this is the SN. it's random.
Also this part is sometimes different between label on router and label on cardboard box. Why
this is not true, unless you bought a used device with mixed up boxes

I've received a Mikrotik package with 20 hAP Lite 941-2nD, it's sealed with Mikrotik tape..
All the routers have on the label /208/r3 but on the boxes there's /209/r3

That's why I'm asking..

Thanks

I thought that part of code was related to the batch of boards produced or something similar..

Thanks
