CRS326-24G-2S+ low speed

Sat Apr 30, 2022 3:01 pm

Hello,
I have upgraded my CRS326-24G-2S+ to the latest 7.2 version, I use sfp+ and I get a max speed of 600/400Mb, what's the max I should achieve on this switch? Cpu reaches almost 88% and on v6 CPU was hit 99%.

You do not have specified how you use the device.
This is a SWITCH, if you use it as Router, inevitably you have bad performances (also the high CPU usage reveal that).
Depending on "Router" configuration, you can obtain at max less than 800/900Mb/s of AGGREGATED traffic.

I think you have reached the max speed for that switch used as router...
If all your LAN devices are plugged in here, they have cable speed.

yes, I use it as a router.
You shouldn't ( since you expect better results )
It is a device with advanced switching capabilities.

Here you can see how the device performs as a Router https://mikrotik.com/product/CRS326-24G ... estresults

Which Mikrotik router can handle more than that?

Many, check in the Ethernet Routers section https://mikrotik.com/products/group/ethernet-routers
The Test results page will help you see what each device can perform.

For example you can obtain from RB5009UG+S+IN 4Gb/s aggregated.
I have personally tested it, I'm forced to use v7, but is really impressive......

@rextended indeed is impressive.

How have you tested it ? It seems it can achieve those speeds but in larger packets, 1518 Bytes... https://mikrotik.com/product/rb5009ug_s ... estresults

Yes, for aggregated I mean not only the routed traffic, but also what pass from fasttrack

data transfer between two nas and simultaneously a speedtest
the 5009 are link to one CRS326-24S+2Q+ whit the special cable: https://mikrotik.com/product/q_bc0003_s

On the final setup, after doing the test,
the RB5009 is used only as "Router on a stick" and the "pure" switching part is done from the CRS326-24S+2Q+ (using RouterOS, not SwOS)
on CRS326-24S+2Q+ start a 24 fibre cable, only 12 used, that do a 1,5Km ring, surrounding the facility to be served.

so you used 1 SFP+ port of the router to connect to two NAS SFP+ with that cable? and it works?

not, I attach the two NAS and "FTTO" directly to RB5009 for testing purpose... I'm curious... :-P
The final setup is what is described later, the server and other rack devices have it's own (another) core switch CRS326-24G-2S+RM

ops...
going back to OP:
You achieve the max speed, because one switch do not have same routing power as one.. router.
You can still use the switch you have as... switch and use another rotuer as add-on for routing.
I hope you understand what I mean...

Hi there.

I realise an oldish post, but am having the same issue

I was using the CRS326 in router mode, as my primary gateway, but it was rubbish, was only getting 250mbps

So now have the RB5009UG which is giving me 500mbps+ very good.

I have also changed the CRS326 into Switch mode, but am still only getting about 250-280mbps if connected to the switch.
But still get 500+mbps if direct to the RB5009UG.

I have a 10GB 1M SPF+ XQ+DA0001 direct cable between the 2.

ANy idea of what is going on please.

there is no special config anywhere

What do you call "special"?
In default mode it will be able to handle wirespeed...but when users start to customize the config, it can underperform.

To get some insights, can you please share your config:
/export file=anynameyoulike
