Changing PPPoE client name disconnects PPPoE and re-connects - WHY?

Changing PPPoE client name disconnects PPPoE and re-connects - WHY?
This is just an arbitrary name for the PPPoE client that is only relevant to local setup and nothing to do with ISP. Why does it disconnect and re-establish client?

This happens on Winbox when name is changed on GUI.

In previous versions, i have not tested in the latest, even if you added or edited a comment on a PPPoE Server would cause a disconnect/connect...

That "arbitrary name" as you call it, is also used in other places in RouterOS and some stuff depend on it (firewall rules or whatever). They can't work using some "name" that doesn't exist (if you change it).
Just my two cents on this.
Why does it bother you?

Changing ANY other interface name does NOT have the same effect. It bothers because it's unnecessary to disconnect from a technical point of view and is an inconvenience to user. PPPoE connections also don't establish as fast...but regardless why disconnect on a simple name change when it is possible not to?

So if you are coding a system, why do you want to make things complicated and add areas that can cause problems / errors, i.e. If this changed, restart service, if that changed, don't restart service, etc the list can go on and on...
With a PPPoE user, I will agree with way it is, if anything changed, restart service.

Why? what is your reason for that? Does the name of PPPoE service have to be sent to provider? if not, how is it different from any other interface name?

What is technically wrong is wrong no matter how you spin it. I would write about me changing an interface many times if that was an issue but it is not. Issue is explained really well and it IS AN ISSUE.

File a bug report if it is a technical issue.

Would be nice if the OS would change firewall rules and such without disconnecting the client.
No clue if it is possible or if it affects other stuff.
Then again, if you keep changing the name so many times, you are doing something wrong.
