Mikrotik router board hex -- Poe switch -- MacBook pro 2015

Wed May 18, 2022 3:11 pm

Greetings
I'm so close to getting this figured out, I don't want to have to reset it again

What am I doing wrong?
If I had to boil it down, I believe I am now experiencing 2 issues.

1) shortly after choosing the default configuration, I can then go to my workstation which is behind a switch to start configuring. At that time, I am able to get to the router using 192.168.88.1. However, I am not able to access the internet after turning DHCP server on.
2) I decided to try a unique up in case there was something crashing into the default up vec it was assigned .88.1 also. So, I changed to .5.1 and now can't access at all

Using angry up, with a wide open range of 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.254.254 and waiting a long time, it doesnt find anything at all!?

I am not only wanting to reach the internet to get my work done, I am wanting to understand this better to one day have knowledge on the subject. Which is why I don't understand how after using such a basic and broad listener, it is not hearing anything.

Thank you for your time.

Hi,

You could try to use winbox, you can connect with mac address.
Winbox only runs on Windows, maybe you could install windows on a VM?

It’s also possible to run WinBox on the Mac using Wine. Have a look at “How to install Winbox on macOS
