7.2.3 and IPv6 and SFP modules issues

Wed May 18, 2022 10:46 pm

Hi
I just upgraded my rb4011 to 7.2.3 and lost my IPv6 gateway :(

I looked into it and there was magically 2x default routes, both identical apart from was DAd+ and the other DAv+

Any ideas where the DAv+ has come from? It says v for vpn but that makes no sense

Now I have removed the default route with DAv+ from the routing table and my IPv6 works again. Weird.

Other issue I had was post upgrade the router would not boot with the SFP installed. And when it did boot with it removed as soon as i reinserted it it flashed and strobed the LEDs for all the interfaces and the SFP activity light and communication on any interface was lost to the router.

I let it boot and sit idle for a while then rebooted it again powered it off in the process and now SFP no longer stops all the traffic and works as expected.

Other than that the new Wire Guard VPN soo much less hassle than IPSec IKE etc very good

Thanks

Hi

It appears this additional default route reappears whenever my PPPoE connection is established leaving me with 2 default routes same distance but only difference being the 2nd one marked with v for vpn.. again I removed it and now my IPv6 traffic flows.

Thanks

Regarding IPv6, it's mentioned every few days on the forum
uncheck add default route from the DHCPv6 client
Two default routes are added even in RouterOS 6 if you checked add default route, but somehow only one was valid for some reason.
When having a PPPoE type WAN that is.

Are you using PPPoE to connect to the ISP?

Ok, then please uncheck add default route from the DHCPv6 client
thank you
also read viewtopic.php?p=928436#p928436
and other mentions around the forum with pppoe dhcpv6 and default route (you can search, probably mentioned in the release topics more)

Ok
I disabled it and I have no default route so traffic now no longer flows

I don't understand why you keep shouting disable dhcpv6 default route. Once it is removed by disabling it obviously there is no route to any address outside the local range of the router.

The PPPoE client sets the route (the one that you deleted manually). Reconnect your PPPoE client.
Here, I did some more searches for you:

Now it makes sense thank you

Its strange to me because in previous releases this has never been an issue, I had only 1 default route from the DHCPv6 client and never got a default route from the PPPoE client and certainly never had a route marked "v" for VPN

The only reason I set install default route in the first place under DHCPv6 was because the PPPoE client didn't give me a default route and I didnt want to create a static route

Thanks again
