Feature Request: Disable log from logging by the specified service

Fri May 20, 2022 9:50 am

Hello, I think that a useful option would be the ability to disable log generation for a given login method. For example, for the API - when we have a script logging every minute, it unnecessarily clutters the logs with entries. I know that it can turn off the logs of this title at all, but it will turn off all logs from logging in.

You can use an external log server. There you can easily filter out what you do not want.

You must have misread the issue as it specifically is not easy to filter as there are missing topics / facilities?
Or did you intend to manually replay all possible system messages and write filters for each and every group?

When API logs inn, there will be written some to the logs. Internal logs has a limit, so it will be filled up by repeating stuff.

Example on my router.

This does not give any problem for me, since I do send all logs to an external syslog/splunk server.
There I can filter out what I do like to see and not like to see.
It has not the same limitation as the internal logs.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You must still be misreading the issue, as issues presented here is not about your personal problems and solutions, rather errors and flaws in the RouterOS implementation.
You are basically saying that RouterOS should come with an external server to circumvent de facto flaws. (even though we will be there "soon" (Mikrotik TM) with container support)
I don't have this problem with Cisco either, doesn't do much good for Mikrotik users.

Also @Joni "still be misreading" the forum.
Is a USER forum, not SUPPORT forum.

"The issues presented here is not about" MikroTik staff solutions, but only USER's "personal problems and solutions".

The only thing you should do is thank those who try to help others with their own solutions to the problems encountered, until something is done by MikroTik.

Understood?

Contact MikroTik support about new requests and "errors and flaws in the RouterOS implementation".

Bye.

1. OP han not replayed back saying anything about what is wrong and what is correct.
2. From the title "Feature Request", so this is not an error nor a flaw.

I just tell what can be done as a workaround.
