CRS112-8P-4S-IN/CRS305-1G-4S+IN Tandem Tray

Thu Feb 14, 2019 1:12 pm

Hi , just a thought for Normis etc . Any way we can get a tandem tray for the CRS305-1G-4S+IN or CRS112-8P-4S-IN so we can put multiple devices side by side in a 1U slot ? Sort of like what Juniper,Dell and Netgear have with their switches ?
The multiple DC in jacks and ethernet management on the port make it ideal for small IDF pops where we run a a Wireless Wire/Airfiber/MetroLinq links between A-B or Colo space where we have to pay per U of rackspace.
Currently using CCRs and CRS112's with L2 Transparent Simple Queues for this but it's such a big waste dedicating a full 1U to 3 Connections. It's a very side use case this but I think it can be done more space efficient and cost efficient.

Pardon the terrible diagram.

Unfortunately RB4011 seems to be just a few mm wider than half of 19" net width ... so it's not possible to mount two side-by-side inside standard 19" rack. For that, single device would have to be max 200 mm wide to allow some space for mounting frame.

Sorry for reviving old topic but I was also searching for dual rackmount for two CRS112 as I needed to mount another CRS112 and was out of space.

In the end I just had to improvise and make my own - took those long brackets from both units, cut them and placed another piece of aluminium as back support (could use rest of the bracket but I used another piece). Secured with screws

Excuse the craftsmanship as I am electrical engineer and have just a $5 hacksaw, some leftover bag of screws and nuts (but hey, they are stainless 8) ), handheld drill and screwdriver that was not perfect fit for those screws. But I am pretty proud of this :D
First I screwed those brackets to both units and then joined those two brackets together. The separation between those 2 units is sufficient for a quite easy access to those nuts.

Looks good! And proof, that we need a short depth modern PoE switch.

We made something like this for a CRS309+Hex (series)

Let me know if anyone interested :-)

Also https://www.cyberteam.pl
makes a dual/triple mount for HeX series
