Out of my depth!

Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:31 pm

Wondering if some kind soul could offer any assistance to get internet access on my Chataux 5G.

I am able to tracert to internet sites by name, so DNS and routing must be working (nslookup also works). However, unable to get beyond ‘syn sent’ in the firewall connections list. So the actual issue is while IPs seem to work browsing doesn’t. I have no tested any other traffic types yet.
I am not at all familiar with Router_OS I just need a fast cellular connection and I bought this, since it does CAT20. A cabled connection is not possible where we live in the uk.

Re: Unable to browse internet.

Wed Jun 15, 2022 12:29 am

I apologise for the vague title - wasn’t thinking.
I have spent over 8 hours straight on this and feel sure it’s something simple, but not obvious to me. I have tried adding in various rules and modifying the NAT configuration all with no success. Only ICMP is logged in the log via the fasttrack rule, when I enabled logging on all rules. It seems odd that no LAN packets are being dropped in the logs, which points to a routing problem, but that does look right to me…. any advice welcome.

Re: Out of my depth!  [SOLVED]

It looks like all default config, it doesn't block any outgoing traffic. So if traceroute is able to get out, so must tcp for web. You can check lte1 interface using Tools->Torch and you should see outgoing packets there.

Something simple after all, needed to define the IP Type in the APN settings to exclude V6.
Now working albeit shockingly slow, I’ll start another post for that.
