Is it possible to use my Mikrotik as a Web Hosting?

Tue Jun 21, 2022 4:26 pm

Hello dear friends!

I created a webpage where my clients are able to check their debts with my wisp so I need this page to go online since I need they are able to check their debts everywhere, I used php + mysql to build this web.

So, I was wondering if it's possible to use my Mikrotik RB750Gr3 as a kind of hosting instead of paying one like (of course it has to support mysql). That's my doubt. Thank you guys! I am new to this and sorry for my bad english.

Hi @yohanclinxD, welcome to the forum!

You might be able to run Nginx in a Container but RB750Gr3 is way to weak. CHR, RB5009 or similar with sufficient cpu power, ram and storage might do.

Never mind power; containers only work on x86 and ARM. The hEX line is MIPS based.

The CRS3xx line have a similar CPU, and one of them could run a basic PHP app. Rewriting it in Go or another similar web-first static language would be a good idea, though.

Or of course you could buy a very small computer like a Raspberry Pi 4 or similar to run the website.

Raspberry PIs are the perfect toolset. You should always have a couple at home as backup, you never know when you need them next time! :-) And I also like the Intel NUCs since everything is boxed in a smart way.
