wAP R ac as wifi client

Wed Jun 29, 2022 11:47 am

I'm not sure if this would be possible or even a good idea, this is why I would like to ask it before I make the jump.

We have in one place a high-end access point (Ruckus r650). The 2nd place is about 35 meters away. Could we use a wAP R ac in the 2nd place as Wi-Fi client to create a wireless link between both places? The wAP R ac and the Ruckus r650 will have a line of sight (Both will be inside, the line of sight will be through a window). Would this theoretically be possible to keep a 1Gbps link between the two locations?

Both theoratically and practically impossible.

You should look into 60Ghz devices, though not completely sure how much affect the glass will have on the link

NOPE!!!

Don't do it.

Ruckus Uses Directed DHCP. It doesn't like bridges.

You can attach a Mikrotik to its wireless. But you will likely need to make a new subnet from that Tik.

Don't go cheap and don't do it. It sort of works... but really ill advised.

Also it wont get anywhere near 1Ghz over the air.

1 because the radios are not able.
2. Mikrotik wireless really isn't able.

As someone else pointed out The Mikrotik Wireless Wire line at 60Ghz can do 1Ghz over the air Point to Point.

Use the cube to link then wire the other WAP... preferably another Ruckus.

Wifi6 vs WiFi 4.5 the key exchange time out is different... roams aren't smooth...

Been forced to "prove it" again and again for "price sensitive" (Cheap M--her F--kers). They either accept the performance hit... or pay for the right parts.
