Chateau 5G dual wifi (station and ap-bridge)

Thu Jul 07, 2022 5:51 pm

On chateau 5g there are two wifi software interfaces, one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz. It seems possible to configure one in station mode and the other one in ap-bridge mode. The use-case would be to connect to a public wifi using an external antenna on the roof of a vehicle and serve wifi clients inside the vehicle using the other interface, possibly with internal antennas.

I see on https://confusedbird.com/thread-119.html that there are two wifi antenna ports, not sure if one is for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz or if they are shared and used for diversity?

Is that configuration a valid one?

Thank you so much for your reply. Yes the post talks about LTE but the part I am interested in is the Wifi connectors, as seen on the picture.

.

I am able to authenticate wlan1 on 2.4Ghz in station mode to a remote AP while my laptop is connected to the Chateau 5G to wlan2 on 5Ghz. So that seems to work, the remaining question is are those two wifi connectors used both for both bands, or is one for 2.4Ghz and one for 5Ghz.

Thanks for de-confusing me...

As you can see on image, the left connector is for 2,4GHz CH0 and 5GHz CH1 and the right connector is for 2,4GHz CH1 and 5GHz CH0.
Then the antennas are shared (and both on MIMO)

Thanks, couldn’t see that. So I guess I can connect both to two of the 6 elements external wifi antenna (i hope leaving 4 unused is ok) and not use any internal antenna. I’ll try :-)
Cheers
