Very low transfer speed in 10Gbps SFP+

Wed Jul 20, 2022 8:47 pm

We have found problems with the transfer speed in a CCR2004-16G-2S+ while using 10Gbps interfaces. We use this routers to connect to Zscaler cloud services via GRE tunnels. We have found that, if transceiver is configured in auto mode and negotiates 10Gbps/FD, it is critical that you configure fastpath in GRE interfaces and that traffic pass through fast path. If, for any reason, traffic doesn't use fast path (in our case a simple VRRP interface configured in the same SFP interface, even though fastpath was configured in the GRE interface), then traffic starts being dropped and you don't reach speeds over 30/40 Mbps. in the other hand, if you force link speed at 1Gbps, no matter you configure or not fastpath in the interfaces, traffic flows without problem (hundreds of Mbps).
I have upgraded to the latest stable version, 7.4 at this moment, and the problem remains the same. I guess it may be some kind of cross dependencies at driver level...
