I am surprised that we see a mention of RouterOS 7.3... Still a long way to go for version 7.4?

What are those "loops" on either end of the RB5009?

Why do you still use the old logo on newly released devices 3 months after having changed your branding ?
When do you plan to use the new logo ?
From a more technical viewpoint, why still only having a single 2.5Gbps port ?

New devices are usually designed many years before publishing

These are needed to mount 4 devices (in 2x2 placement) in a 1U configuration.

I Just wished that RB5009 would have supported vlan filtering as hardware based. Could be a great replacement for Ubiquiti edgeswitch or at least make the same design of RB5009 for a switch so we are able to rackmount in a single 1U space 4 of them with stackable feature if possible to not loose some ports. It's good because if one goes down from a lightening or any other case we don't loose the whole switch. Cost wise really interesting for service providers.

I also have a question for Normis: Do CRS305-1G-4S+IN have vlan filtering capabilities ? if not, I guess mikrotik wiki should edit the section where it mentions all 3xx series have vlan filtering capabilities.

both devices you mention have hardware vlan filtering accelerated by hardware
RB5009
CRS305-1G-4S+IN

in fact CRS 305 can do Layer 3 forwarding by hardware (No fast-track No-NAT), rb5009 do Layer 3 forwarding by CPU but has a very powerful one

To be clear, the RB5009 is referenced by its CPU on two of those pages, 88E6393X. That's likely why the OP above missed it.

with the intention of being clear:

RB5009 CPU is 88F7040, switch chip responsible of Layer 2 HW accelerated features is 88E6393X

Nice releases!!!. I like to see the CRS5xx to replace the CRS326 and/or CRS328-24P with the following characteristics:

- 24 RJ45 Ports
- All or some Ports with mGig Support (2.5 Gbps and 5 Gbps!). If some at least 8 ports
- PoE+ or even better PoE++
- 4 x SFP+ cages
- 2 x QSFP cages

Any expected time frames to get these?

@normis, do you confirm that the power-supply which comes in the RB5009UPr+S+IN box is the 48V2A96W (and not the 24V one which comes with RB4011 and previous RB5009) ?
Btw, really nice newsletter, awesome products :)
Many thanks !

@rextended, thank you, I saw, just asked for confirmation, as video for this new product shows a 24V DC-jack voltage...

CSS610-8P-2S+IN looks good. Would prefer CRS (RouterOS).

Would also prefer RouterOS on both CSS610 non-PoE and PoE versions.
Perhaps one day @MikroTik dev team ?

CSS610-8P-2S+IN properly replaces old CRS112-8P-4S-IN though :)

The RB5009 is presented as a great lab tool but for me, it falls short not having a serial port for external configuration. Might as well get a RB4011 without the wireless., thoughts?

Simply dedicate one of the 8 RB5009 ports (which you can then (un)tag in your management VLAN) for local administration purpose ?

Another possibility is to use woobm, it supposedly works on all ROS devices equipped with USB port.

+1 for proper serial console port, not just for management but also control of other devices. It's sad all devices from Mikrotik come with UART pads on PCB... but we can't use them in ROS, they are not software enabled - yet fully functional if you boot OpenWRT. If having <$1 in BOM cost of RS232 port is too much, at least have that 3.3V UART available on like a pin header.

Agree. We simply have no use for CSS series because the lack of security.
