Slow speed (WiFi/LTE)

Fri Jul 29, 2022 3:04 pm

Hello,

i'm trying to find out where is the problem. I always have very bad speeds over Mikrotik. Can't understand is it WiFi or is it LTE.
The fact is that my macbook, never connects to 5ghz network.
I've read FAQ here in forum, found the problem about "Preambule-mode", find this setting in my mikrotik, but it is set for "both" as described in FAQ, but anyways my macbook never connects to 5GHz network.

p.s. i forgot to put a Windows PC (in the same room as Mikrotik and macbook), using 2.4GHz WiFi, i never ever had more then 5MBps Download :|

Any ideas how to sort it out?

Have you tried connecting PC directly to MT to see what speedtest gives then ?

Any ideas how to sort it out?
Without crystal ball ? No ...

From terminal:
/export hide-sensitive file=anynameyouwish
Review file, remove serial, remove public IPs, secret keys, ...
Then post contents between [code] quotes so we can review where potential problems might be.

:D pity i don't have crystal ball :D
at the moment i dont have USB to LAN, to try directly from MAC, so i've tried from Windows PC:

WiFi 2,4GHz: Down 28, up 13
LAN: Down: 55, up 4 :)

/interface wireless security-profiles set [ find default=yes ] authentication-types=wpa-psk,wpa2-psk mode=dynamic-keys supplicant-identity=MikroTik
This (wpa-psk) is probably not needed.

My "basic" settings for WiFi on this AP is:
/interface wireless set [ find default-name=wlan1 ] adaptive-noise-immunity=ap-and-client-mode antenna-gain=0 band=2ghz-g/n channel-width=20/40mhz-XX country=ukraine distance=indoors frequency=auto frequency-mode=superchannel hw-protection-mode=rts-cts mode=ap-bridge scan-list="" ssid=MikroTik wireless-protocol=802.11 wmm-support=enabled wps-mode=disabled
/interface wireless set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] adaptive-noise-immunity=ap-and-client-mode antenna-gain=0 band=5ghz-a/n/ac channel-width=20/40/80mhz-XXXX country=ukraine distance=indoors frequency=auto frequency-mode=superchannel hw-protection-mode=rts-cts mode=ap-bridge scan-list="" ssid=MikroTik wireless-protocol=802.11 wmm-support=enabled wps-mode=disabled
You need to change "country" and "superchannel".

Maybe you find, what LTE band are supported by operator. And set it in AP, like this:
/interface lte apn set [ find default=yes ] ip-type=ipv4 use-network-apn=no
/interface lte apn add apn=internet ip-type=ipv4 name=kyivstar use-peer-dns=no
/interface lte set [ find ] allow-roaming=no apn-profiles=kyivstar band=3,7,8 name=lte1 network-mode=lte
I'm use the latest ROS and firmware - "R11e-LTE6_V033" .

This (wpa-psk) is probably not needed.
Thank you:
1. wpa1 removed.
2. what is wrong with country, what is it correct to set?
3. What is superchannel, how to set correctly? :)
4. How do i find supported LTE channels?

Try to set the settings like mine. Only in them you should change the country to "your own", etc.
My mobile operator is Kyivstar. This is how I asked Google: "Kyivstar lte band". :D

P.S.

In your configuration file, I saw the "country" parameter. If that correct - than search by "lithuania lte bands"...

i found this site: https://www.cellmapper.net
it shows bands for each tower. Adjusted my Mikrotik, but it does not helped with speed :|

p.s. i found where SuperChannel can be set. I've changed country, for some reason while selected Lithuania, it does not let me to choose. Anyways, i've change to Ukraine, then set superchannel, but it did not helped for the speed :|
That's very strange. My iphone gets double speed at the same location...

I'm use the latest ROS and firmware - "R11e-LTE6_V033" .
Latest is V034.
Updated my SXT (remotely) this week. Perceived speed may be a tad faster but could be me wanting it to be like that :D
As usual, no change log or added info.

@user18273, you may want to look into upgrading that part as well.

This is very strange. I see absolutely different firmware number. Mine is this:

Installed Version 6.48.6
Latest Version 6.48.6
