Wireless

Sat Aug 06, 2022 2:03 pm

We have a problem with the client that uses antennas (access point) from mikrotik. The MAC of the client's device (cell phone) keeps appearing on several antennas at the same time, as if he were connected to it, even on antennas that he didn't go through and connected to.
Does anyone know why this happens and how to fix it?

keeps appearing

What do you mean with "appearing". Where is that? ARP table? DHCP lease? Registration table?

A cell phone often has the habit of connecting to all SSID it can detect. This is any visible (non-hidden) SSID. If the SSID is open , (security=none), then it will connect (get in the registration table) until it jumps to yet another. If the SSID is protected then it might try to connect, but fail.

Check the log of all Access Points.

If unclear, then add '/system logging topics=wireless' to the logging to be shown not only the connects, but also the attempts to connect.

Boa noite !

Good evening !

Appears in the Bridge configuration (hosts), on several antennas, even on antennas that I did not connect.
We set up a bridge for eth1 interface and wlan. (attached print).
Even with the increase of internet link speed, site survey, antenna power, channel change, band, we have speed oscillation (low), by wifi connection.

Forgot bridge "hosts" table in the list of possible places to find a MAC address.

What is the "hosts" table? It's the MAC address list for the bridge. (You can see something similar in the Switch "Host" table with HW offloading)

Host/Hosts MAC table is used for the switch/bridge function to know where to find a specific MAC address in the network. To know on what interface to send the packet with that MAC destination.
Here it says 'ether1' on the IP= 10.4, 10.40 and 10.41 devices
So it can be found on the ethernet interconnection, and it is NOT on one of those 3 devices or on their WLAN interface. Somewhere in that L2 (bridged/switched) ethernet network.

Good Morning !
So it works like a layer 2 switch, it records the MAC of the device, so when you send a data packet you already know which port (access point) to send?
But it's getting the connection time (Age), in several access points, how will it know the correct destination, where the device (cell) is really connected?
Why do you keep adding time (age) to the access points? This happens even on access point that I didn't connect to..
