disconnected, received deauth: unspecified (1)

Fri Aug 12, 2022 10:24 am

Hi all,

we got Surface Pro 7+ tablets with Intel AX201 adapter and face frequent short disconnects to the hAP ac AP (exclusive client in network). As we have this setup (one AP for one tablet) multiple times, the issue is systematic. The disconnects happen on all recent AX201 drivers as well as RouterOS v6.49 and v7.4.

What I found interesting to see is that the disconnect sometimes comes with an invalid forward towards a Microsoft server (20.50.2.7) - could this be related or is this maybe logged when the client was already disconnected (disconnect not logged yet)?

Each of the last 3 network drivers Intel has published, this was a "Key Issue Fixed". Currently installed driver is 22.150.0:
In certain cases, Network connectivity loss (Windows System Event ID 5002 and 5005) occurs with an Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX201 wireless adapters

Appreciating any input on these disconnects.

Thank you very much,
Daniel

Is there anything you can recommend to debug these disconnects?

My wlan2 configuration:
set [ find default-name=wlan2 ] antenna-gain=2 band=5ghz-onlyac country="austria" disabled=no frequency=5180 frequency-mode=regulatory-domain installation=indoor mode=ap-bridge ssid="mySSID" wireless-protocol=802.11 wps-mode=disabled channel-width=20/40mhz-Ce

I meanwhile bought the metageek Wi-Spy DBx set with Chanalyzer software. The network adapter seems to struggle once there is load in the respective frequency range. I find this behavior quite odd and still wonder if there is something I can do against (except waiting for a proper adapter firmware or exchanging hardware).

Mikrotik running legacy wireless driver (as opposed to the new wifiwave2 driver available for a few select devices) is notorious for its suceptibility to external interface. Usually it shows as extreme degradation of link performance, but what you observe is not unheard of. The new wifiwave2 driver is yet to show it self as better performing, since it's relatively new and only available from few device models, it wasn't used much so far.
