So the switches do all the dhcp then?
No, the main router (RB4011iGS+) does all DHCP, routing, and firewall functions.. But every physical interface of the router is a separate LAN or VLAN trunk. No LAN appears on more than one physical port of the router. Each router port is directly connected to one of two VLAN aware switches (CSS326-24G-2S). The switches do all the switching functions.
Hey k666, you dont need to conserve vlans like you do water............
That I don't. I just checked, there are 18 VLANs, 2 WANs, 2 trunk ports, & 6 untagged LANs in the 4011 router (SFP port not used currently). Yea, not exactly normal for a home user!
Now with all that said, I did manage (with massive help from here) to implement a simple (all one LAN) bridge on one of my old RB750 routers and a second RB750 with a trunk port and 4 untagged ports under a bridge as a stopgap when I was running out of switch ports in the data cabinet before adding the second CSS326. I fully admit that I have never understood bridging in ROS.
