LTE: can’t get an IPv6 address

Sat Sep 10, 2022 7:31 pm

My provider support IPV6:
/interface/lte> at-chat lte1 input="AT+CGDCONT=\?"
output: +CGDCONT: (0-15),"IP",,,(0-3),(0-4),(0,1),(0,1),(0-2),(0,1)
+CGDCONT: (0-15),"IPV6",,,(0-3),(0-4),(0,1),(0,1),(0-2),(0,1)
+CGDCONT: (0-15),"IPV4V6",,,(0-3),(0-4),(0,1),(0,1),(0-2),(0,1)
+CGDCONT: (0-15),"PPP",,,(0-3),(0-4),(0,1),(0,1),(0-2),(0,1)
OK

But I don't get any Ipv6 address when setup to auto. I've also tried to force it to ipv6 but without success. Any idea how can I force the modem to use the IPV4V6 mode ? Should I setup something else apart the profile and lte interface?

Current configuration is:
/interface lte
set [ find default-name=lte1 ] allow-roaming=no apn-profiles=orange.fr band=\
1,3,7,20 network-mode=lte
/interface lte apn
add apn=orange.fr authentication=chap ipv6-interface=bridge user=orange

You might want to enable some add'l lte logging to see what's happening during LTE session establishment.

/system/logging/add topics=lte,!packet,!raw

then disable/re-enable the LTE device, and check the logs.

And it generally helps if you're using the latest RouterOS, matching /system/routerboard firmware, and the LTE firmware is also up-to-date. e.g. You mention the RouterOS version, but might want to update the board and LTE firmware if you haven't already.

Did you try to set ip-type=ipv6 on apn profile? Maybe you cannot have dual stack LTE connection (or is some ROS limitation/bug).

If I set type ipv6 in the apn it fails to connect :
12:04:16 lte,debug lte1 mbim: lte status: attached apn: orange.fr iptype: 2
12:04:17 lte,debug lte1 mbim: do connect activate #0

Ok I figured it out

apn orange.fr and IPv6 > failed to connect
apn orange and IPv6 > ipv4 (rfc1918) AND ipv6 addresses
apn orange and auto > ipv4 (rfc1918) only

That's weird
