Copy settings

Thu Sep 15, 2022 10:24 am

I have one question. Can we copy settings from one Mikrotik router to another Mikrotik that is not the same and how?
I need to know this because I will buy the new router.

Export the configuration to text by executing command
/export show-sensitive verbose file=anynameyouwish
and fetch resulting file to management computer. Note that exported config doesn't directly apply to new device due to differences in hardware and default config (varies with ROS version). Text export comes very handy as reminder of what to be configured.

Note that export command does not include users (usernames, passwords) nor certificates.

when you have the device, return to this topic, we can "sanitize" the export to be putted directly on hAP (ac² ? ax² ?) etc.

Do not use ".backup" files, is the worst idea...
