wifiwave2

Wed Oct 26, 2022 8:09 pm

Hi,

I need to have wifiwave2 as it's much better and works around the property.
I found that with audience i can' use mesh as there is no ap bridge mode and station pseudobridge.

When will this be implemented into wifiwave2?

4-way address mode and so (which is needed for mesh) are still not available for AX devices.

4-way address mode ... are still not available for AX devices.

Actually it's not related to AX devices, it's related to wifiwave2 driver. So the problem is also present on AC devices which benefit from running wifiwave2 driver (Audience is a prime example of such device). Indeed AC drvices can run legacy wireless driver (which supports 4-way address mode), but running that driver makes these devices much less attractive.

Do we have any recent insight into if this will be supported in the future? Debating if I want to wait for this or figure out another solution.

Hard to tell.
Legacy wifi was completely made by MT themselves. So they could pretty much do what they wanted there.
For wifiwave2 they choose to use ready-made drivers. Less flexibility.

Not to say those features will never come back but I would think it becomes a lot harder to do so and it will take a lot longer. If it comes back.
