Special characters in password

Sat Oct 29, 2022 11:28 pm

Hello,

Is there any known issues with special characters in password of admin user? I have CSS326-24G-2S+RM which I'm unable to login to due to wrong password. I would like to avoid resetting it if possible. I'm hoping there's a know issue and a workaround to it.

The characters I have in the password are:
`
%% (two consecutive % characters)
=

To be honest, I don't know what the allowed characters are for SwitchOS, however a LOT of devices have issues with certain characters. I seem to remember that % can be a problem. I just looked and the SwOS docs make no mention of password requirements or limitations. Personally that is one of my pet peeves on website that have password limitations and won't tell you what is required or allowed (max length is one that is almost never mentioned - and since I use a password manager, it is easy to use passwords that are dozens of characters long.).

Hi,
It turned out special characters aren't a problem. I was just about to reset the config when I decided to try the old "turn it off and on again" solution and it worked!
It booted up and I'm able to login again.
Yay!
