DNS Rewrite like in Adguard?

Fri Nov 11, 2022 10:31 am

Hello, is it possible to do something similiar as DNS Rewrite on Adguard?

I would like to forward all intranet traffic like this:

10.0.4.100:8118 -> asset.management.local
10.0.4.100:8001 -> network.management.local

etc.

Is something like this even possible? I don't know what's the technical term to this, as I can't find any information for DNS Rewrite function on anything else other than Adguard.

You can use Container function to run Adguard in RouterOS and do it in the same device.
RouterOS does not have any advanced DNS functionality at the moment.

Can confirm that the feature works wonderfully on an RB5009 ROS 7.6 with container package and a 32 gig USB thumb drive. Couldn’t be happier.

No, it does not run on TILE, this was covered before.
I have a 128GB SSD on mine, so a 32GB slow drive is little :)

@Znevna I have a 512 gig SSD I was going to play with but thought it was overkill for my immediate needs. Have confirmed that the 5009 recognizes it and all.

@anav the thumb drive, or SSD, is so that you are not increasing the writes to the internal memory of the device which will shorten its lifespan. I bought very low profile thumbs drives so that they don’t accidentally get bumped or broken etc. You can barely tell it’s there at all.

@anav that’s a great question. Not something I’ve ever tried myself as my device has the usb port. In principle I would think the SD card would work but there could be some sort of limitation that I don’t know of. If you insert a card and the go to System -> disk does the SD show up ? If so, how?
