I have a user that would like to keep his home PC connected to the work VPN, so that when he is traveling and connects to the VPN with his notebook, he can RDP into the home PC.
This works if you know the IP address of the home PC's VPN connection, but if for some reasons that connection is dropped and re-establishes, the IP can change (assigned via dhcp pool).
I use a script to create a static DNS entry for local DHCP users, but this doesn't work over the VPN (I guess the VPN server wouldn't know the machine name of the connecting PC anyhow).
So I guess my question is, are there any easy ways for him to know the IP address of his home PC, so he can connect to it over the VPN connection? I guess I need to treat one connection differently.
For example, under "Secrets" there are fields for local and remote addresses, can I set a static IP here?
Thanks you for any help.
