MultiWAN backup bridge

Mon Dec 05, 2022 1:14 am

Here's the deal
I want to have several WAN ports for different ISP with DHCP, and switch between them in defined order, if they goes down.
I saw the solutions based on firewall and routing, but I would like to have my equipment in the ISPs network without NAT.
So I've created a bridge for each WAN port, put DHCP clients on them, and added scheduler script which checks if bridge is alive (ping something with specified bridge interface).
If WAN bridge is alive, add output ports to that bridge, if it goes down - remove out-ports and try next wan bridge in the array.
Basic testing shows that it works.
But what do you think of such approach ? Are there possible pitfalls or drawbacks ?
