hEX + cAP

Sun Dec 18, 2022 2:09 pm

After several days of trying an looking for help on internet... no success, pretty frustrating.
topolgy: ISP router linked by wire to ETH1 of hEX PoE (RB960PGS)
ETH2 and ETH3: connected to cAP ac (RBcAPGi-5acD2nD)
ETH4 and ETH5: to PC's.
want to put all devices as DHCP clients on ISP router.
After all trials, I have internet via the LAN ports, but can't manage to get the AP working.
I must be doing something wrong...

Its not clear you have two CAPACs, but will assume so.

Clearly you dont want the HEX to be acting as a router as you note you want the ISP router to provide DHCP etc.
Thus its a switch type setup you want, use this guide as reference - viewtopic.php?t=182276

When you have the config made up and mostly working and still need help post the full config here.
/export file=anynameyouwish ( minus router serial number and any public IP information )

THANK you so MUCH!
followed https://tehnoblog.org/mikrotik-router-h ... nt-bridge/ part 1.

Except for
STEP 5
Go to Routing > BFD and disable defined “all” entry by double-clicking on it and pressing Disable button (cannot be deleted!).

Winbox v7.6 has no Routing/BFD.

1 AP is working fine, but the second one is not responding.
Only flickering green LED E1 (connected to router prot ETH2), and blue power LED.
No blinking of the 2G nor 5G LED.
When I change cable with my second AP, it responds wel.
Tried every kind of reset holding reset button and plug ethernet in.

In /Bridge/Ports I see that ether2 has Role 'root port'. Is that normal?

posting the caps will be required as well then.
remove the serial number from the post above.......

Just to be clear you only have one LAN subnet?
All PCs and all wifi users are on same subnet.
No vlans.

How are you expecting the users to get dhcp if you set it on the hex?
Your config contradicts your text. Suggest you draw a diagram to explain what you wish to accomplish!

No VLAN, ISP router is providing DHCP;
all users in same LAN/Wifi subnet
The configuration posted above is following the instructions, starting from standard configuration.
Maybe I should have started with a 'blank' configuration.
A decent network topology with subnets/VLAN and enhanced security is a second project. For now I just like all users connected.
