Adding LTE failover

Wed Jan 25, 2023 9:10 pm

Hello all,

I have a hEX as a router connected to a coax ISP, what options do I have to add LTE as a failover option? Can I buy a wAP LTE and configure it as an additional WAN route?

What other options do I have?

Buy a hotspot from your carrier, and plug-in via USB is another option. Under V7 most should work, but not all.

The wAP LTE devices are nice since you can put them outside, which improves cell signals (thus speed).

Assuming a standard default config, if the primary WAN link is unplugged, LTE if configured/working will take over. If you want failover based on internet being up, the config get more complex but doable.
