RouterBOARD questions

Sun Feb 05, 2023 5:14 am

I bring up RouterBOARD in WInbox and I see Factory Firmware: 6.43.12, Current Firmware: 6.46.2 and Upgrade Firmware: 7.7. What does all this mean? I am experiencing:
2023-02-04 17:25:59 Error (3) KERNEL failure in previous boot
2023-02-04 17:25:59 Error (3) ROUTER was rebooted without proper shutdown, probably kernel failure

I just did the upgade to 7.7 a week ago and all seemed fine. Running on CCR1036-8G-2S+

Also trying to track down the kernel error.

Upgrade Firmware is version available to upgrade Current Firmware.
Current Firmware is the version used for normal operation.
Factory Firmware is available for failed startup recovery.
Upgrading RouterOS and firmware loader are different.

See RouterOS topics: RouterBOOT and Upgrading and installation

Thanks. I guess I am assuming that current-firmware is what my RB thinks it is running?

So, when I load 7.x (from 6.x) onto an RB my Winbox shows the new 7.x and the OSPF/BGP config is 7.x style but RouterBOARD says it's running 6.x. I then need to click Upgrade in RouterBOARD to finish the process?

Current Firmware 6.43.12 is loader used to get RouterOS 7.7 running. Yes, upgrading firmware gets loader and RouterOS to same level.
I really don't know but what I've seen is firmware loader version doesn't make a big difference but I keep mine synchronized anyways.
