CRS324-24P: How many Watt on POE Output

Tue Feb 07, 2023 11:49 pm

Hi Guys.

How many watt ist the POE Output (each Port) on CRS328-24P?
On my CRS112-8P they are not enought Power for my Dahua PTZ Cam (cam reboots every 20-30 seconds)
This is not funny 😡

How much does it need and when does it reboots ( starting, panning / zooming, enabling IR ? ).

Spec on https://mikrotik.com/product/crs328_24p_4s_rm states 450mA at 53V = 23.85W.
If that's not enough CRS354 https://mikrotik.com/product/crs354_48p_4s_2q_rm says 570mA at 53V = 30.21W.

But being a PTZ there might be difficult relation to wire length, quality ( resistance ) and motor load. Sometimes adding a big fat capacitor at the end of PoE wire can help. This smooths sharp power surges limiting voltage drop on wire and current spikes. But it will break auto PoE and there are cases it can cause more problems than solve.
Also some devices don't really care about Watts. They say 48V 30W PoE+ but ignore standard and just consume constant 600mA. You give them 53V and they just get hotter, turn motors faster and consume 600mA * 53V = 32W.

How long is/are the cables you're using? Does the device reboot if you connect it with e.g. a 5m/15ft long cable?
