OSPF video surveillance system

Thu Feb 16, 2023 7:03 am

hello everyone, I have to build a ring video surveillance system, I was thinking of doing it using CRS112-8P switches using OSPF.
Beyond the accessibility of all switches via OSPF, in each single switch, do I insert the cameras in a bridge with only the ports dedicated to them? or do I create a bridge with one of the two interfaces that I use as OSPF inside?

Another question, since there will be a router to which internet connection will arrive, how do I give internet with OSPF to each group of cameras on a single switch?? do i need to nat all switches??

I enclose a diagram of how I planned to develop the network. However, I specify that it is not possible to create the entire ring network, but only the segment drawn in the diagram itself

definitely u need routing between the sites, but running OSPF on Cloud Router Switch, not sure , if that is the right way to go.

will work, yes , is that properly, definitely no

how would you accomplish all this? it is a single company, but it is a very large ring of excellent fiber. would you also use OSPF?

put this way, u are asking for the routing protocols that u want to implement on the switch, make sense?

My personality, i will not be doing that.

and how can I do without OSFP to create a closed loop of optical fiber, so that if it is interrupted in one point, everything continues to work?

ok, i see , so u have to use them.
Static or dynamic u have to use routing between them.
The choice is yours

then I proceed with OSPF. The only thing that will happen is that the cameras will have different IP class on each single switch. In the afternoon, I posted a diagram with the addresses. so tell me what you think

which I could then use instead of ospf, the spamming tree protocol in the bridge, setting a closed ring port as a backup Port. or am I wrong?

u can use RIP instead, just be aware of limited to a hop count of 15.

stp/rspt - we are usually using the for loop protection

CRS has a really slow CPU
I don't think you can use it for an OSPF network or any CPU-based tasks

but as I wrote, I could use the CRS as simple switches. Instead in the CCR I set the bridge with a backup port that I will connect to the return of the closed loop of the switches, without using routing right?

Well, the CRS112 maxes out on ~80Mbit of IP-routing, so it's not a good router. A ring of switches is not a great idea either.

I would:
- Assign one VLAN for each site with its own subnet.
- Use the CRS317 with Inter-VLAN routing and run OSPF between them and the CCR1009.
- Put a router before or after SW6, or as a router-on-a-stick, with VRRP against SW-A
